Since the visit by Nottinghamshire Chief Police Constable Steve Green in December 2004, three police groups have used the Holocaust Centre as a departure point for their training on Diversity and Hate Crime. The Centre is also represented in the Nottinghamshire Community Advisory Group for Training and Development and the Gun Crime Education Team. Police Diversity trainers see structured visits to the Holocaust Centre as important steps towards developing a deeper understanding of comnunity issues. This is a small contribution towards restructuring of training for the Police in the East Midlands region. Following a recent visit, Sgt. Steve Evans, Derbyshire Police, commented: "I teach Diversity, you make it live. Yesterday put everything into perspective. It's the best teaching tool I could have. The impact of the visit will ripple out into our whole community as the student officers develop via these moving experiences." Leicestershire's Black Police Association Conference on Hate Crime in December 2005 gave the Centre a platform to present relevant lessons from the Holocaust. Other Constabularies and the Community Security Trust , are discussing with us how to expand training with Police Officers.
