Every year, the Holocaust Centre welcomes some 20,000 visitors, 18,000 of whom are students participating in day seminars – mainly from secondary schools, but also from primary and special needs schools, sixth-forms and the tertiary sector.
We also welcome numerous other groups – professional training groups, informal groups from churches and synagogues; interfaith, human rights and youth organisations – along with members of the general public who visit on an individual basis.
Many of our visitors are relatively local – from Nottinghamshire and adjacent counties – but others come from across the UK, including London and the south of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Some visitors come from even further afield – from Germany, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Israel, Canada, the USA and Central America.
Many visitors write to describe the Centre’s impact on them.
“There is no purpose for my letter other than to say that my visit to the Holocaust Centre has quite literally changed my outlook on life, and for that I thank you.”
Kate Cordingley, Visitor
“You have created the most amazing, very beautiful and thought-provoking memorial.”
Joan Brown, Association of Head Teachers for Jewish Schools

By train
The nearest railway station is Newark, on the East Coast mainline. The journey time from King’s Cross, London, is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. For speed and convenience, we recommend that you take a taxi from the station. It is approximately 12 miles and takes 20-25 minutes.
By bus
There is no direct bus service from Newark. Change at Ollerton for a service going via the village of Laxton. The Holocaust Centre is just over a mile from Ollerton and is the first set of buildings on the right after the turn-off to Laxton.
From Victoria Station, Nottingham, take the No 33 bus (Bay 9) which takes you to Ollerton Briar Road. From there, take the No 36 bus to the Centre. There is currently no bus-stop outside the Centre, so you need to request a stop. The drivers will be happy to stop for you.
